Alternate Layouts Functionality
The Adobe Indesign CS6 introduce the new functionality of Alternates layouts which help us to create a document with different or multiple orientations.
For any tablet say I-pad, Zoom,Galaxy or so on, We can see the same layout or document in portrait(Vertical) and Landscape(Horizontal) view.
If User create a layout in Landscape view and see the document on Tablet in portrait view then the view of the document does not change to portrait, it remains in LandScape view.
So, Alternate layout feature provides us the facility to create the same document in portrait and LandScape view. So that We can see the document on Tablet in both the views.
How it works: Steps: Open pages palette for better understanding. 1.ID: Create a layout with landScape orientation and place the content like image text etc. 2.ID: Expand layout menu and click on create Alternate layout option. –>Create Alternate layout window pop up. [If the layout in horizontal orientation then it automatically create the alternate layout in vertical orientation and we can also set the orientation of alternate layout.] 3.ID: Click on ok button.
–>Observe in page palette there are two column one for horizontal view and another one is for vertical view.
This is how we can create alternate layouts and we can see both the views on device as well as on system using Adobe content view.
For viewing the layout in Adobe content view.
Expand file menu and the click on Folio preview. The layout is shown in Content viewer in horizontal view then by pressing “CTRL+R”
we can see the the alternative(vertical) orientation of the created alternate layout.
Information: We can also create the alternate layout using page palette and also compare the alternate layout by split the window functionality (Newly introduced in Adobe Indesign CS6)
