As most of you must be aware, since a few days the Internet has been buzzing with Google Buzz, the search engine’s first real Social Media tool. The opinion among the Social Media experts is sharply divided- While most have been very critical, there are some who have declared it as a winner. Anyway, whether it works out well in the future is a matter of speculation, most sites and bloggers, starting with Mashable have aded buttons (Like add to Facebook buttons) on their sites to allow visitors share content through Google Buzz. Here is how you can do it.
Please remember, “share on Google Buzz” feature works only if your Google Buzz is linked to your Google Reader account.
To add a Buzz it icon to your Blogger blog. log into your account and from your dashboard go to the Layout page. Click on Edit HTML, the source code of your template would now be loaded in the editor. Before proceeding further, make sure the Expand Widget Checkbox is checked.
If you want to add the button on top of the post (just below the title) , look for the following code in your blog template..
Add the following code ( change image URL if you wish to use a different one ) :
<!-- Buzz It snippet begins -->
<div style='float:right;padding:2px;'><a expr:href='"http://www.google.com/reader/link?url=" + data:post.url + "&title=" + data:post.title' rel='nofollow' target='_blank' title='buzz this'> <img alt='buzz this' border='0' src='http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss358/danishctc/buzzit.png'/> </a> </div>
<!-- End of Buzz It snippet -->
To implement this functionality on WordPress, open the file Single.php and add the following code at the place you want to display the button:
<a href="http://www.google.com/reader/link?url=<?php the_permalink() ?>&title=<?php
the_title(); ?>&srcURL=<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>" target="_blank" rel="nofollow
external"><img src="http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss358/danishctc/buzzit.png" width="40" height="51" alt="Buzz It" /></a>
With a little tweak you can put this button on any site, you just have to be sure that you are sending the correct parameters.
