iOS devices allows flexibility to access Filemaker applications via ‘Filemaker Go’.With Filemaker Go,we can access filemaker solutions hosted on remote servers or we can access local solutions on the iOS devices, and synchronize the data with the hosted applications.
When we are the adopting the later option(ofcourse, for faster usage),care should be taken to maintain the speed of data synchronization process.
Data sysnchronization involves importing data to the hosted FM apps from iOS devices.Imagine, you have 100 fields of data to import!!!!
With normal importing of 100 fields of data, things will slow down just like anything. Then, the purpose of using an iOS device will not fit the purpose.Any alternative??Yes,a simple tweak in the pack can make life easier…
The tweak is, instead of conventional import of 100 fields from iOS to 100 fields of remote FM applications, try importing those 100 fields to a single field with 100 ‘repeatations'(repeating field) and then run a server schedule script to fragment the repeating field to the corresponding 100 fields.
The above method makes the operation 5-10 times faster.
